French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA)

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas: defence and security, nuclear energy (fission and fusion), technological research for industry, fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.

Two laboratoires of the CEA institutes Opens external link in new windowLIST and Opens external link in new windowLETI are contributing to the Hymet project.

The CEA Opens external link in new windowLaboratoire National Henri Becquerel (LNHB) is the designated institute for ionizing radiations in the French metrology system and is presently a partner of the metrology beamline of the synchrotron Opens external link in new windowSOLEIL (Saclay). New X-ray fluorescence techniques and combined analysis are developed to characterize innovative materials without reference. The CEA LNHB is involved in several EMRP/EMPIR projects.

The CEA LETI (Grenoble) is one of the major European research centers for applied electronics with a staff of 1,600 people. More than 85% of its activity is dedicated to research finalized with external partners. The nanocharacterization platform is composed of several competence centers of physical and chemical characterization techniques including ion beam analysis, X-ray analysis, electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, surface analysis and optical characterization techniques together with mandatory sample preparation.
